About Me

Kai Oliver-Kurtin is a Southern California-based freelance journalist who has published articles in various newspapers and magazines, including USA Today Travel, Condé Nast Traveler, Fodor's Travel, HuffPost, Marie Claire, Business Insider, Tripadvisor, San Diego Magazine, San Diego Union-Tribune, Modern Luxury San Diego, Southbay Magazine, Locale Magazine, Pacific Magazine, San Diego Home & Garden Magazine, Edible San Diego, Foodie Travel USA, Rogue Magazine, Home Living & Design, Beach & Bay Press, Coronado Eagle & Journal, La Jolla Village News, La Mesa Courier, Peninsula Beacon, San Diego Downtown News, San Diego Pets Magazine and San Diego Uptown News.

 

Kai's work has earned honors in the San Diego Press Club's Excellence in Journalism Awards, Society of Professional Journalists' San Diego Journalism Awards, South Carolina Public Relations Society of America's Mercury Awards, and the U.S. Navy Office of Information's Navy Media Awards. 

 

Kai graduated from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington where she double-majored in communication studies and English, and earned a Certification in Professional Writing. She was named Best Reporter of the Year 2006 by her student newspaper, The Seahawk.
